Wax Muffins (Homemade Firestarters)
Our cars has never seen the inside of our garage. That space is home to Desert Scrolling. Rod cuts beautiful clocks in his garage wood shop, many of them are our own custom designs, and we sell them at craft shows around our area. One of the by-products of cutting wood is sawdust — … Read more
Solar Omelets
What could be better on a sunny Sunday morning than an omelet , with ham, and onions, and bell pepper? With hot biscuits on the side? That was the thought in my head early this morning as I came down the stairs. So, while Rod put the solar oven out to pre-heat, I pulled out … Read more
Grandkids and Solar Cooking
Just got back from spending a week’s vacation with (some of) my grandkids. The days were sunshiny and bright. I just had to do some solar cooking. Everything turned out hot, tender, and delicious. I put Blueberry muffins in the second pot. However, I really overcooked them and they were not edible. I … Read more
Third meal
I took the easy route for the third meal I cooked. I used a “Crock Pot Dinner” from the frozen food section of the supermarket. It was a complete meal with pot roast, potatoes, carrots, onions, seasoning, and gravy packet. Just dumped it into the pot and let it slow cook all day. Easy! Easy! … Read more
Learning to Cook
The second day I decided to make an old family favorite recipe — Chicken and Rice. Everything I read cautioned not to add too much water. So I cut back on the water for this recipe. Big mistake! Rice needs water to rehydrate. Fortunately there was enough to successfully cook everything, but it was a … Read more
