Pulled pork

Pulled pork made in the solar oven turned out to be very easy to make.

PULLED PORK

  • 3 lb pork roast
  • dry rub seasoning
  • water
  • BBQ sauce (bottled or homemade)

Pre-heat the solar oven while preparing the pork roast.  Rinse off the roast and rub on the dry rub seasoning.  Place into a pot and add just a little bit of water ( 1/4 – 1/2 cup).  Cook covered in the solar oven for about 3 – 4 hours.  When roast is fully cooked and tender, pull the pork into shreds  with a fork.  Add barbeque sauce to cover the meat.  Mix well.  Place back in solar oven for about 1 hour to let the barbeque sauce simmer and flavor the pork.  Serve on buns.

If it’s ready, I’m coming down (over? up?)! This looks so good. Wonder where the name “pulled” pork came from… I guess ‘separated with fork’ just doesn’t have the same punch; eh? There is nothing juicier than a solar-cooked roast. Happy Father’s Day to you and yours.
